Frequently Asked Questions

How long will I be in therapy?

This really is an unknown and varies by person and situation. Sometimes you’ll come in for one reason, and we’ll discover you need trauma therapy on something different but related. I do my best to keep therapy moving and relevant. I want you to feel that we are working and making progress.

How often should I come to therapy?

As always, you are in charge in therapy. I’m fine with weekly, every other week, and even monthly sessions. In my experience, weekly (at least at the beginning) leads to faster growth and better therapy momentum. If you are in crisis or unstable, I will likely recommend weekly therapy.

Is therapy going to change who I am?

Yes, but in the best ways. Folks get worried that they’ll change so much it will impact relationships, work, or their personality. Therapy heals old wounds and allows you to show up more often as your best self. At the conclusion of therapy, you will most likely be proud of the progress you’ve made and the life you’re living.

Do you take my insurance?

You are welcome to reach out and ask. I can check your benefits before starting the therapy process.

What if I'm not really into your therapy dog?

Dave will want to say hello, but then is totally fine to hang out on his dog bed. He will not be offended that you want space from him.
