About Laura

My journey into providing therapy started much like yours. I sat on someone’s blue couch for trauma therapy. I cried all the tears, shared the scary memories and feelings, and healed some wounds that I had been carrying for a long time. At the conclusion of my trauma therapy journey, I had an ah-ha moment and found my passion in life – to provide this service to others. I immediately returned to school to pursue my master’s degree in social work from the University of Utah. I have focused my career on trauma work, particularly with the use of EMDR.

I am constantly working to build my therapeutic education. You’ll likely hear about my enthusiasm for the latest therapy book I’m reading. I’m active and engaged in trainings to stay up to date with therapeutic interventions. Burnout and Boundaries are two areas I am specialized in. I have run groups on both of these topics and love to help people who are struggling with these areas.

My clients would describe me as kind, funny, laid back, and supportive. I know that therapy is often uncomfortable, and I do what I can to make the process less painful. You are always in charge of the therapy process. You decide how fast we move, when to take breaks from hard topics, and when you’re done with therapy. I work to fully support your goals with some gentle prodding when we’re stuck or avoiding.

About Dave

Dave is a one-and-a-half-year-old Cocker Spaniel. He is well loved in our family, but Laura is his favorite. Dave is in therapy dog training and is working on his manners and commands. He loves new people and often wants to say hello (with the hope they might have a treat on hand). At work, Dave likes to sit next to you or take a nap at your feet. If you need someone to hug and cry into, he’s there. His big floppy ears are very absorbent.

Dave’s favorite things are shredding cardboard, telling the Amazon delivery guy to go away, hovering around the kitchen for dropped food, and napping in the sunshine.
